Buchanan Brings Love of Teaching, Books
Melinda Buchanan is the new English teacher at KHS, and has been teaching for 19 years.
She spent eight years in Slidell, eight years at Flower Mound High School, and three years at Sanger High School before coming to Krum.
Mrs. Buchanan said that she loves it here so far.
She attended several colleges but finished her degree at UNT. Her major was English/Interdisciplinary Studies.
Mrs. Buchanan’s birthday is January 30th. She grew up in Woodville, TX, but lives in Sanger. She and her husband, John, have two sons named Aubrey and Sam.
She also has two sisters named Patti and Luann. Teaching is her passion and she loves spending time with her husband, hanging out with her horses, and reading.
For a short time Mrs. Buchanan was considering becoming a librarian, but decided that she didn't want to leave the classroom.
“Books are wonderful, but being in the room with students is where my heart is,” she said.
Mrs. Buchanan loves teaching literature.
“Nothing is more satisfying than having a kid who wasn’t a fan of reading become engrossed in a book,” she said.
“She is always in a good mood,” Caitlyn Scott.
