Choir Duo Wins Honors

Two Krum High School students have recently been named the All-District Choir. Alyssa Taylor and Christian Cofer performed at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, and secured a spot in the honor choir. They worked hard all summer and through the beginning of this year with Mr.Mustol on learning 10 songs and how to sight read. The audition began at 3:00pm and lasted all the way through midnight. Alyssa and Christian had to learn 10 songs and only 3 of those would be chosen for them to sing during auditions. While waiting their turn, the members could not practice or sing any of the songs. When they went into perform, there were 5 judges behind a curtain. They were told which 3 songs to sing and after singing the songs back to back, they had a sight reading test. Over 200 other students attended the audition and Alyssa and Christian did well enough to get into the District group. “I think the biggest reason I got to where I am with choir would be the choir director, Mark Mustol,” Taylor said. “He has been a big influence on my singing career for the last three years and I'm hoping he stays our director until after I graduate.” After receiving All-District, both Alyssa and Christian will be performing November 19th at TWU. If they do well enough, they could get All-Region and then possibly All-Area.

“Choir is an amazing activity that brings you closer to new people who enjoy the same thing as you,” Taylor said. “Choir has definitely changed my life.”
