Senior Courtnie Roberts has won nationals with her club volleyball team and will be graduating a semester early from Krum High School. Roberts has been practicing for Nationals with her team, Madfrog, since November of 2015. The girls were given a strict diet throughout the season, and were training for 5 days of each week. “I was given an extremely strict diet last year, and I still do my best to follow it today. It involves eating high amounts of protein, low carbs, natural sugar only, natural fats, and lots of fruits and vegetables,” Roberts said. “We practiced three nights a week starting last November. We practiced for two hours each time and did weight training with a personal trainer two times a week for about an hour.” Club ball requires 100% effort all the time and putting your emotions behind is a big part of the game. “We can look at each other on the court and tell each other how bad we are doing and then after the game be best friends again,” Roberts said. A good support system also has an big impact on the game. Having support from your friends and family is a big help because you know you’re not just playing for yourself, you’re playing for them as well. On November 10, 2016, Roberts signed to the University of Delaware. “I committed the summer going into my junior year to the University of Delaware. I received a full ride for 4.5 years,” Roberts said. “I leave in January to head up north and start my volleyball career there.”
