Sophomore Writes and Performs Songs Devyn Lucas is a sophomore who is gifted with musical abilities. She has been singing ever since she can remember. Lucas decided two short years ago that she wanted to pursue a career in the music industry after she sang “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys in the Krum Middle School talent show. “My Cherie Amour” by Stevie Wonder is Lucas’ favorite song to sing and play on the piano. She can currently play the piano, but also plans to learn how to play the guitar in the near future. Lucas plans to attend either NYU or Berkley to get her degree in either music or record music. Both of these schools are known for their music programs. She eventually wants to release her own music under her record label. Lucas is a solo artist who is working on writing her own songs. She spends time in her bedroom writing out lyrics for songs or practicing chords of sheet music. Her inspiration for lyrics comes from pretty much anywhere. “When inspiration strikes, I just trust my gut and go with the flow,” Says Lucas.
