Kiersten Ehler is a Senior this year that has signed to play soccer for the University of Texas at Tyler. UT Tyler is located in Tyler, Texas, a town with a population of just over 100,000 people. The college itself is small, with a little under 10,000 students enrolled.Their mascot is the patriot “Swoop”. Every year around homecoming, the school has a “Patriot Idol” singing competition. Maybe one day Ehler can add ‘singing competition winner’ to her list of awards! Interestingly, Ehler is the only student from Krum ever to sign with a college to play soccer. She notes that it’s been her lifelong dream to play college soccer, so no matter the circumstances, she has made her dream a reality! Ehler plays on a select team, but because Krum does not offer an athletics class for soccer, she has a personal trainer that she works out with keep in shape. This past summer, Ehler played on the North Texas Olympic Development team and won the regional championship in Alabama! “I can’t imagine my life without soccer,” reflects Ehler.
