On Campus Emergency Care

Dixie Knight is the nurse for both the Middle School and the High School. She works at the MS each morning from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. From 11:30 am to 4:00 pm, she works in the High School. The Nurse’s Office offers medication to students if a form is filled out from a parent, and with its original bottle turned into the office. The office also provides referrals,feminine products, and screenings such as eyes, throat and ears. The hardest part of her job is DSHS Vision, Hearing, Spinal Screening. Immunization records have to be sent to the State, but everything is confidential. “It’s a neat, fulfilling career,” Knight said. “There's something new every day.” She has enjoyed the kids in education.. In order to become a nurse, Knight went through five years of college to get a Bachelor's Degree and pass the State Board. Mrs Dixie been a nurse for 34 years, and has worked for Krum ISD for 18 of them. She welcomes students to come see her with any health concerns..
