Many Hats

Not only is Misty Waldrum the athletic secretary at Krum High School, her work consists of many other duties including being a bus aide, an after-school program teacher, and working for the City of Denton in the Athletics Dept as an Athletic Lead. “I am a busy body, so I love to be doing things at all times,” said Waldrum. Each position consists of doing different duties, and making sure the children are safe and having fun. As an Athletics Lead, she develops sports programs, keeps all sports scores, officiates games, coaches various sports, works at concession stands, and enters data for sports programs. “The majority of my jobs are sports related, so my jobs are really stress free and there is nothing really to balance. They all just fall into place.” Miss Waldrum says the only difficult thing is keeping parents calm during competitive games and keeping the adult athletes in line during play. “They can get a bit out of line at times.” When it comes to other coaches, from Krum and at her city job, she enjoys working with them because each of them bring something different to the table, and it is not the same thing repeatedly. “We are all here for the same reason: the kids, so I believe that makes our job more fun and entertaining”. At Krum ISD, Waldrum works for Athletic Director, Gary Robinson. He likes her dedication to the Bobcats. “Ms. Waldrum is an outstanding worker,” he said. “She is very loyal, and dependable.”
